Lemon Law and your Rights and Needs

All 50 States in the US have a New and Used Vehicle Lemon Law in place. This protects the consumer of Motor Vehicles in case of problems within a certain amount of time.

There is also a Federal Lemon Law (The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) in place to protect Vehicle Consimers in all States. Federal lemon laws cover anything mechanical. The federal lemon law also provides that the warranter may be obligated to pay the prevailing party's attorney in a successful lemon law suit, as do most state lemon laws.

Knowing your States Statues of Lemon Law can protect you in case of certain times. Even if you have purchased an "As Is" Vehicle. There are certain laws that may allow you to file suit against a New or Used Car Dealership.

Of course Dealerships are supposed to make you aware of these laws. Very few Used Car dealerships comply. Then they end up in a big mess.

The Dealerships don't want a suit and it usually goes into a settling out procedure. If it was a New Car, Then you are entitiled to another New Car in return. This allows the Manufacturer to make it right.
